Embedded Linux
Linux is ...
- free
- adaptable
- efficient
- popular
Devices are powerful
Developer time is expensive
Notes:
This is the start of the embedded UML section. I start with a digression about why UML is taking over the embedded development market, especially among developers who have their own home-brew embedded OSes.
Linux has all the nice attributes listed on the slides, devices are now commonly powerful enough to run a general-purpose OS, and developer time is expensive, so time saved by not having to maintain a private OS is time removed from the development cycle.
