Here I make an analogy to the picture in the previous slide. I equate Apache to an embedded device, Apache's mod_perl interface to an embedded home-brew OS, and UML to Linux.
Looking at Apache as sort of a virtual device, and mod_perl as sort of a virtual embedded OS leads to looking at UML as the virtual equivalent of embedded Linux.
I propose that just as Linux is taking over the embedded systems market for the reasons listed on the previous slide, so will UML be used in virtual devices for the same reasons.
